Lights Will Guide You

Wow what a whirl wind of stuff happening lately in my life! Just in the past month one of my community members, Kelsey, ended her YAV year to go home to prepare for seminary; I celebrated my 24th birthday; I went to Triennium; I signed a lease for an apartment; and I was offered a job!!

I have been on the go with my work placement obligations, my community obligations, and my own personal obligations that I have not had time to really debrief anything that has happened in the past month. I gave you a list of major things that have happened this month so I guess I will just go down the list, one at a time to...maybe...debrief a little bit!?

Kelsey's YAV year coming to an end:
What can I say, I mean I absolutely hated Kelsey...JUST KIDDING!!! I can definitely say that with out a doubt there is definitely a void in the house where Kelsey use to fill. I am so very grateful to have had the chance to live with and grow with Kelsey throughout the past year and a half. There were times where we butted heads and couldn't agree on anything but hey isn't that what community is all about?? There were times that she was there for me when no one else was around. She was there for me when I need to laugh and when I just needed to vent about something. She was also there to help me grow and see me grow as a person. For that I a truly grateful for everything that Kelsey has done for me. I wish her the best at seminary and I know that this is never a goodbye but a see you later! Now that I am sobbing I think I might go on to the next point. (Luckily Kathryn is sticking around SA for awhile so I won't have to do this again anytime soon. I am truly grateful for both of my community members this year and appreciate them both!)

Celebrating my 24th B-Day:
Well it's not a special birthday where I get to go out and do something crazy, but it was definitely a birthday to remember. It was a typical day where I had to work till 5pm, but after that I had dinner, homemade Mac and Cheese! Yummy! After dinner I went out with friends to Candlelight, a cute little bar/cafe type thingy-ma-bob. haha I was very delighted to see how many of my friends came out to celebrate with me! We had some drinks...I had maybe a tad too many lol...and we played Taboo! It was a great way to celebrate and end my birthday! Thank you to everyone who came out that night to celebrate!

Triennium:
Wow what can I say...it was amazing!! I actually think that this one is going to take a blog by itself. Plus I am still emotional from writing about Kelsey that I probably need to skip this one. I will say however that if you have never had the chance to experience Triennium you should definitely try to make it in 3 years! There were over 5,000 youth there and everyone was there for the same purpose! I was able to reconnect with some YAVAs and meet new friends that will last forever! I went as a small group leader and had the most amazing group of 19 ever! I was so happy that all of them enjoyed themselves and enjoyed each other. Okay well more on this later...

Signed a Lease:
Yep, so I am officially, officially, officially staying in San Antonio! I love all of my friends here and I love the city! I will be rooming with Elizabeth, a Mennonite Volunteer from 2011-2012 when I met her after moving to San Antonio and who now works at Catholic Charities. It was a pretty fast decision that we made after only looking at 3 places when we decided to put an application and deposit down for a great apartment, at a great price, in a great place! Well we were approved and then we signed a lease! Tomorrow we get the keys to our place and I will officially be living there this weekend! Oh wait...I guess that means that my YAV years are over??!? Wait what?? Wow well that's gonna be another blog...haha Anyways looking forward to a new year!

I GOT A JOB!:
Oh so you know how things actually cost money, and kind of being a full time volunteer puts you in a money bubble, where you know you make nothing and you wish you made more but you really don't need it but then you realize your time as a volunteer is about to be over and you need to start making money if you don't want to move back into your parents house....yea well I don't have to worry about that anymore!! Because...I got a job!!!!! YAY! I will be working in the development department at Catholic Charities, my current volunteer placement not the department but the company. I don't get a break between my jobs though, I start bright and early on Monday morning at 7am! I am super excited about this opportunity! I will be learning a lot of new things that I will be able to use in the future!

Well thanks for reading this awfully long blog post! I hope it helped you stalk my life just a little bit more! HAHA! Well its 9:30pm and well its my bed time...haha well no seriously I am tired I am going to bed early tonight!!

Thank you for reading!! :)
