Work has been super busy lately, with planning a neighborhood event to just being there for the kids I have been very busy at work. For those of you who don't know I work for Catholic Charities at the Guadalupe Community Center with the after school program. I work with kids ages 6-17, but I mainly focus on the middle and high school kids! I know that seems crazy, but I have finally come to terms that I am one of those crazy people that actually like working with middle schoolers! haha

Just over a week ago an event that I was put in charge to plan, went off without a hitch! The event was National Night Out 2012, which is a national event that is put on to help prevent crime and get neighborhoods together. This year Guadalupe Community Center decided that they were going to hold an event at the center for the community. About 2 months before the event I was asked to plan the event. At first I thought ok that will be no issue! Well I soon found out that there was a lot more involved to plan such a big event and that planning should have started months ago!! But finally the night came and most of the kids that come to our after school program came out for the free food, crafts, a fire truck, and much more! It made me so happy how many people came out especially when some of the middle and high school students came to the event as well!

After that I event I am now focusing all of my attention on getting the library ready at GCC so that the kids can check out books when they want to! We have just about 2000 books in our library and I get to put them all in this wonderful online library that will allow the kids to check out and check in the books that they want to use!
Well that's basically what has been happening lately in San Antonio! Well I am sure that there is more but that's all I am going to talk about now! I hope you enjoyed this post especially the pictures!
My next blog I think will be about some of the history of the Westside of San Antonio. Just this past week I have been learning more about the history of this area and it really fascinates me! Until next time! Hasta Luego! :)
